From Marghera Venice is landscape. From Venice Marghera is the horizon, the continent, a view.

How to make it landscape? Is the existance of a city possible, where there isn’t? If Venice was made ​​for the time, the waters and history, Marghera is still waiting to be made​​.

Cities are made of houses. The city is mainly made of dwelling architecture interrupted by exceptional objects on an infrastructural base. Dwelling architecture is that of living spaces for everyday life, which is not unique, that sets and confirms the living spaces. The dwelling architecture must be designed in connection to the city to ensure the quality of urban spaces.

Like many architects, many times we focus on public buildings and infrastructures, for their exceptional or unusual characteristics, often forgetting the design of the house. Yet the design of each house is important if placed in a broader context: every house, no matter how small, is part of a collection and is able to modify it.

In short, what we propose is: how can we imagine these transformations? How to live in this continent island? We will do the design of the houses and the gaps between the waters, we will imagine a city.

Venezia da Marghera è paesaggio. Marghera da Venezia è l’orizzonte, il continente, una vista.

Come renderla paesaggio? È possibile che lì possa esistere una città, dove ancora non c’è? Se Venezia fu fatta per il tempo, le acque e la storia, Marghera ancora aspetta di essere fatta.

Le città sono costituite di case. La città è costituta principalmente da un’architettura abitazionale inframezzata dagli oggetti in comune su una base infrastrutturale. L’architettura abitazionale è quella degli spazi di vita, del quotidiano, che non è straordinaria, che imposta e conforma degli spazi di vita. L’architettura abitazionale deve essere quindi pensata in modo organico alla città, in modo tale da configurare degli spazi urbani di qualità.

Come molti architetti, molte volte ci concentriamo sugli edifici pubblici e sulle infrastrutture, per il loro carattere eccezionale o singolare, spesso dimenticandoci del disegno delle case. Eppure il progetto di ogni abitazione si inserisce in un contesto più ampio: ogni casa, non importa quanto piccola sia, è parte di un insieme, ed è quindi capace di modificarlo.

Insomma, ciò che proponiamo è: come possiamo immaginare queste trasformazioni? Come abitare quest’isola nel continente? Faremo il progetto delle case fra le acque e i vuoti, faremo quindi città.
