Intervention and Regeneration
Intervention and Regeneration will be the general theme of our laboratory. It will lead to specific strategies for industrial area based on the “glocal” context. We think Venice is a perfect city for this architectural experiment.

“Glocal”
We have to notice the brand new chances and strategies of the industrial area’s regeneration, especially under the double effects of globalization and localization in the same time. For instance, the new methods and potentials brought by new industries, modern art, culture exploration, urban history, etc. Which have shown different scenes in the different cities.

Visions
We plan to start our program in terms of two aspects, the urban vision and the architectural vision. We will try to construct the architectural strategies and forms through a critical observation of the site’s history and the intervention of new concepts.

Reading
We will do some parallel reading on the base of different contexts of Asian cities and European cities. For example, the different ways of industrial area’s regeneration in Shanghai and Beijing, which are practiced in recent years are supposed to be put great focus on and are interesting references in a “glocal” context.

Intervento e Riqualificazione
L’Intervento e la Riqualificazione saranno i temi centrali del nostro laboratorio. Si svilupperanno strategie specifiche per le aree industriali a partire dal loro contesto “glocale”. Riteniamo che Venezia sia una città ideale per portare avanti questo esperimento architettonico.

“Glocale”
Individueremo quelle che sono le attuali opportunità e strategie per la riqualificazione delle aree industriali, in particolare alla luce di una duplice spinta verso la globalizazzione e la localizzazione. Per esempio, i nuovi processi di produzione industriale, l’arte contemporanea, l’odierno contesto culturale, ecc., che hanno avuto sviluppi differenti nel contesto di città differenti.

Visioni
Intraprenderemo il nostro percorso mettendo a fuoco due concetti, la visione urbana e la visione architettonica. Tenteremo di produrre strategie e configurazioni architettoniche attraverso lo studio critico della storia del sito e della possibilità di nuovi interventi progettuali.

Letture
Svolgeremo letture parallele dei differenti contesti che le città asiatiche presentano rispetto a quelle europee. Per esempio, i progetti di riqualificazione di aree industriali sviluppati a Shangai e Pechino negli ultimi anni saranno approfonditi in qualità di interessanti riferimenti a un’idea di contesto “glocale”.
