EN The real heart of the Marghera industrial complex is the Chemistry Peninsula, a naked industry, a tangle of pipes that for years represented the main cause of the extraordinary pollution of the entire Venetian lagoon. The area, while presenting at least ten different owners can not be divided into functional compartments like the others since the chemical industries are actually all connected in one huge plant in which each factory uses the product made from the previous one. For this purpose along the edges of the area we can find binary of pipes, a huge vascular system. Actually the Peninsula in the original design should have hosted the expansion of the commercial port, but the pressure of industrial lobbies imposed the settlement of chemistry that grew at an incredible speed transforming today the huge area in a single stretch of pipes and valves.
IT Il vero e proprio cuore dell’intero complesso industriale di Marghera é la Penisola della Chimica, industria nuda, groviglio di tubi e per anni principale causa dello straordinario inquinamento dell’intera laguna. L’area, pur presentando almeno dieci diversi proprietari non é divisibile in comparti funzionali come le altre in quanto le industrie chimiche sono in realtà tutte collegate in un unico enorme impianto in cui ogni fabbrica sfrutta il prodotto realizzato dalla precedente. A questo scopo lungo i bordi dell’area sono presenti binari di tubi, un enorme impianto vascolare. La Penisola in realtà nel progetto originale avrebbe dovuto ospitare l’ampliamento del porto commerciale ma le pressioni delle lobby industriali imposero l’insediamento della chimica che crebbe ad un’incredibile velocità trasformando oggi l’enorme polo in un unica distesa di tubi e valvole.
